Aquatics:
Aquatics events from four disciplines have featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme; Diving, Swimming, Synchronised Swimming and Water polo. Delhi 2010 will feature the following:
Swimming
Swimming is core for men and women and has featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme of every Games. Athletes representing 39 countries competed in Melbourne 2006. Swimming has in Pune 2008 and will be part of Isle of Man 2011.
Synchronised Swimming
Synchronised Swimming is optional for women only and first featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Edinburgh 1986. In Melbourne 2006, seven countries sent athletes to compete. Synchronised Swimming can potentially be chosen by the candidate cities for the 2018 Commonwealth Games
Diving
Diving is optional for men and women and has featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme of every Commonwealth Games, with up to 10 countries regularly sending athletes to participate. Diving will also feature in Glasgow 2014.
Archery
Archery is an optional sport for men and women that first appeared on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Brisbane 1982, with 11 countries entering athletes.
Athletics
Athletics is a core sport for men and women and is one of the few to have featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme of every Games. Ten countries participated in Hamilton 1930 and, in Melbourne 2006, 61 countries sent athletes to compete across a range of track and field events. Athletics also featured in every Commonwealth Youth Games, and was included in Pune 2008 and will feature at the Isle of Man 2011. Athletics is a core sport for Elite Athletes with a Disability.

Badminton is a core sport for men and women that made its debut in Kingston 1966 as one of nine included on the Commonwealth Games Programme in this year. Competitors from over 20 countries contested medals in Melbourne 2006. Badminton will also feature in Glasgow 2014. Badminton also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo 2004, was included in Pune 2008 and will feature in the Isle of Man 2011.
Boxing
Boxing is a core sport for men only and is one of the few to have featured on every Commonwealth Games Programme. Five countries entered competitors in Hamilton 1930 rising to 46 in Melbourne 2006. Boxing also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo 2004, was included in Pune 2008 and will feature in the Isle of Man 2011.
Cycling
Cycling is an optional sport for men and women, first included on the Commonwealth Games Programme in London 1934, with seven countries entering participants. Cycling has featured in every Commonwealth Games since and, in Melbourne 2006, 37 countries entered athletes. Cycling will feature in Glasgow 2014. Cycling also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo 2004 and will next appear in the Isle of Man 2011. Track Cycling is an optional sport for Elite Athletes with a Disability.

Artistic Gymnastics is an optional sport for men and women, first included on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Edmonton 1978. After a gap of two Commonwealth Games, the sport has featured in every edition since Auckland 1990, with 18 countries sending athletes to compete in Melbourne 2006.
Rhythmic Gymnastics is an optional sport for women only, first included on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Auckland 1990. After a gap in Manchester 2002, 11 countries sent athletes to compete in Melbourne 2006.
Both Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics will feature in Glasgow 2014. Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Edinburgh 2000 and Bendigo 2004 and will next appear in the Isle of Man 2011.
Hockey
Hockey is a core sport for men and women and one of three team sports to be introduced to the Commonwealth Games Programme in Kuala Lumpur 1998. In Melbourne 2006, 12 countries sent teams to contest the two competitions. Hockey also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Edinburgh 2000.
Lawn Bowls
Lawn Bowls is a core sport for men and women, included on every Commonwealth Games Programme, with the exception of Kingston 1966. In Melbourne 2006, 24 countries sent athletes to compete. Lawn Bowls also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo 2004. It is a core sport for Elite Athletes with a Disability.
Netball
Netball is a core sport for women only and one of three team sports introduced to the Commonwealth Games Programme in Kuala Lumpur 1998. Tweleve teams competed for medals In Melbourne 2006. The CGF has also established a co-operation agreement with the International Federation (IFNA) and UK Sport to support the development of Netball in Africa.
Rugby 7s
Rugby 7s is a core sport for men only and one of three team sports introduced to the Commonwealth Games Programme in Kuala Lumpur 1998. Sixteen teams competed for medals in Melbourne 2006.
Rugby 7s also featured in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo 2004 and will next appear in the Isle of Man 2011.

Table Tennis
Table Tennis is an optional sport for men and women that first appeared on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Manchester 2002. Athletes representing 35 countries competed in Melbourne 2006. Table Tennis will feature in Glasgow 2014.

Tennis is an optional sport for men and women that will make its debut on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Delhi 2010.
Tennis previously appeared on the Commonwealth Youth Games Programme in Edinburgh 2000 and in Pune 2008.
Weightlifting
Weightlifting is a core sport for men and women included on the Commonwealth Games Programme since Auckland 1950. In Melbourne 2006, athletes representing 35 countries competed in a range of events. Wrestling
Wrestling is an optional sport for men only, that was one of six to be featured on the Commonwealth Games Programme in Hamilton 1930. Participation has risen from three countries to 17 sending athletes to Manchester 2002. Wrestling did not feature in Melbourne 2006 but makes a return in Delhi 2010 and is included in Glasgow 2014.
Wrestling was also included in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune 2008.
