The baton`s journey symbolises the unity and shared ideals of the Commonwealth of Nations, and enables communities beyond the Host City to share the Games celebrations. It also serves a functional purpose in carrying Her Majesty`s `message to the athletes` from Buckingham Palace in London to the opening ceremony.
The Delhi 2010 Queen`s Baton Relay will commence from the Buckingham Palace, London, in November 2009. The international route will take 245 days, during which it will travel through al the Commonwealth nations of the world. The national route within the host nations –India – will cover nine states within 93 days. It will arrive in the host city, Delhi, on October 3, 2010.
